In response to the increasing litter and pollution around tourist attractions attracting large crowds like the Malacca River in Malaysia, the government joined hands with Tzu Chi and the public to clean up the famous site. Volunteers collect around 400-500 kilograms of trash daily, with some days seeing as much as 5 tons of debris after rain. Plastic bottles are a common find along the river, emphasizing the need to reduce single-use plastics to maintain a clean environment. Over 100 volunteers and citizens teamed up on June 29 to clean the river and raise awareness about the importance of preserving water sources by preventing pollution from household waste. The cleanup activity also aimed to instill environmental awareness in young children and the community, promoting a cleaner Earth for future generations.
