His agency and girlfriend, Xie Xinying, have both issued responses to the incident. Wang Bokai has been ordered to pay bail and has been removed from upcoming public appearances. The Taipei Film Festival has also expressed regret over his actions and has removed him from their events. Xie Xinying's car was reportedly the vehicle involved in the incident, and she may face legal consequences as well.
