During the deliberation of the draft amendments to the 'Public Officials Election and Recall Act' at the Interior Committee of the Legislative Yuan on July 4, conflicts broke out between the ruling and opposition parties. Committee member Gao Jinsumei attempted to move the meeting to room 101 of the Qunxian Building and made an announcement in the corridor, which was deemed invalid by the Democratic Progressive Party. Legislator Wang Dingyu pointed out that if the announcement in the hallway is valid, then they could hold meetings in places like the Kang Yuan and even complete the second and third readings at the Sheraton without much effort. The dispute continued as Gao Jinsumei was blocked from entering the Interior Committee meeting, claiming that the announcement was vital for the meeting to proceed. Wang emphasized the importance of following legal procedures and proper venue for announcements to be valid, as it is not about changing meeting rooms but about adhering to legal protocols.
