Reporter Qu Yanchen/Taipei reported that on June 15, 2024, at 6:28 pm, KMT Vice Chairman Sean Lien attended the Cross-Strait Forum and mentioned that he is a proud and legitimate Chinese. He was criticized by DPP legislators for not being elected as mayor of Taipei. KMT legislator Wang Hongwei questioned what the DPP legislators were thinking, as Sean Lien's participation in the forum aimed at promoting normal communication between both sides of the strait. Lien emphasized KMT's adherence to the 1992 Consensus and opposition to Taiwan independence as the common political foundation, engaging in exchange and cooperation with the mainland, saying that as a true Taiwanese, he could also be a proud Chinese. Wang Hongwei emphasized that Lien's participation in the forum was to promote normal communication between the two sides of the strait, while questioning the sour attitude of the ruling DPP who cannot achieve such exchange.
