The 35th Golden Melody Awards invited singer Wang Leehom to perform a tribute to the late singer Coco Lee, but controversies arose due to his past scandals, leading his management company, Hom Shing Culture, to issue a statement on the evening of June 14 stating that they would decline the performance to avoid wasting social resources and to not obscure Coco Lee’s contributions to Chinese music. The Cultural Affairs Department quickly decided to communicate with the production unit and the family members regarding this issue after receiving various opinions over the last couple of days.
