After the BRICS group expanded to 'BRICS 11', China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced the need for 'Big BRICS' to counter 'small circles'. However, at the upcoming G7 summit, US officials revealed plans to warn China's small banks to stop aiding Russia. The BRICS nations, originally consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, have now grown to 11 countries, meeting for the first time in Russia for a foreign ministers' meeting. Wang Yi also met with the host country Russia's foreign minister Lavrov, expressing willingness to tackle external pressures together. The G7 summit following this is set to address the Russia-Ukraine war, particularly the issue of China aiding Russia to circumvent Western sanctions.
