South Korea's military disclosed that North Korea recently released suspected 'trash balloons' towards South Korea, containing human feces parasites and intentionally damaged clothing but no harmful substances. In retaliation for South Korean leaflet campaigns, North Korea filled over 1000 balloons with excrement and trash in May to June. The balloons also included children's clothing, indicating North Korea's dire economic situation. South Korea continues to caution against touching the balloons and urges reporting to authorities, as monitoring for more balloon releases is ongoing.
