Firefighters warn that portable fans, if dropped or intensely impacted, may explode due to battery damage. In recent years, incidents involving portable charging fans and power banks in Japan have increased. People are urged to avoid blowing the fan towards the face if it has fallen. The Lithium-ion batteries in these fans could pose safety risks. Japanese firefighters demonstrated a fan's explosion due to battery failure, cautioning against excessive charging and immediate discontinuation of use if the fan suffers a fall. Between 2019 and 2021, Japan had 47 fire incidents caused by portable fans' battery issues, emphasizing public awareness and safe usage practices. Consumers are advised to choose reputable brands and report any abnormal signs promptly.
