Watch Out for Afternoon Thunderstorms as High-Altitude Low Pressure System Passes through Taiwan! Expert Reveals Weekend Weather Forecast

Reported about 1 year ago

The weather for today is mostly sunny with clouds in various areas, but caution is still advised for afternoon thunderstorms. Weather risk analyst Li Zhi-sheng mentioned that a high-altitude low-pressure system will pass through Taiwan in the next two days before moving on to China, and the unstable weather pattern with localized heavy rainfall will continue. Despite clear and hot mornings across the island, afternoon thunderstorms are expected, especially in the western half of Taiwan. The weather is forecasted to stabilize by night, with only brief rain chances in the southeast. Starting Wednesday, the low-pressure system will move away, allowing for more stable weather. However, active weather systems from the north may bring stronger afternoon convective activity and wetter conditions to the northern and eastern regions. The southern and central regions will mainly observe rainfall in mountainous areas, while the coastal areas could experience relief from the heat due to a decrease in moisture. This upcoming weekend may see another period of clear and hot weather due to the strengthening of the Pacific high-pressure system. Li also noted that the current air quality is generally good due to unstable weather conditions contributing to vertical mixing of the atmosphere, and concerns about ozone creation during noon hours are only expected for a short period in the afternoon to evening, so there is no need to worry excessively.
