Water Overflow at Hushan Reservoir due to Continuous Rainfall, Yunlin Will Not Face Water Shortage by End of Year

Reported 8 months ago

Hushan Reservoir in Yunlin County overflowed on the 24th as a result of continuous rainfall in the watershed area in late April and May. The water level rose from 190.87 meters on April 24 to the full capacity of 211.5 meters on the 24th of this month with a storage capacity of 50.6 million tons. Authorities are optimistic about meeting the water demand for the public until the end of the year. Water supply from the reservoir is shared with Jiji Reservoir to provide water to Yunlin County, while temporarily stopping supply to northern Chiayi due to ample water reserves in Renyi and Lantan Reservoirs. Despite the current full water capacity, conservation is urged due to the possibility of increased water usage during hot weather.
