Weather: Taipei's Temperature Might Soar to 40 Degrees! Experts: Two Areas in Taiwan Could Turn 'Black-Purple'

Reported about 1 year ago

Taiwan is experiencing extreme heat with Kaohsiung's Qijin reaching a record-breaking 40.8 degrees Celsius, the highest in the country. Taipei also faces the possibility of hitting over 40 degrees, potentially setting a new historical record. Experts warn of extreme heat in a particular area in the greater Taipei Basin, with 11 counties and cities under 'high-temperature warning' and 9 under an 'orange alert,' including Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi County, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung. The heatwave is attributed to a strengthening Pacific high-pressure system, with southern and the greater Taipei Basin experiencing temperatures exceeding 37 degrees. The general public is advised to take caution as temperatures rise across Taiwan, with Taipei possibly breaking its record of 39.7 degrees Celsius and hitting over 40 degrees.
