Weimar Triangle Defense Ministers Deepen Military Cooperation

Reported 8 months ago

On June 25, 2024, French Defense Minister Le Drian, German Defense Minister Peters to Porys, and Polish Defense Minister Kaczyniak-Camyschy met in Paris, announcing enhanced military cooperation by establishing a joint procurement framework for 'long-range precision strike weapons' and welcoming other countries to join. The defense ministers reaffirmed their steadfast support for Ukraine against Russia and emphasized tackling other regional security issues collectively. The Weimar Triangle, consisting of France, Germany, and Poland, held a defense ministerial meeting once again since 2015 to deepen military cooperation based on discussions among their respective leaders earlier in the year, including joint exercises, strengthening defense industry technology exchange, and collaborating on new cruise missiles and 'deep precision strike weapons'. They aim to address the threat posed by long-range precision strike weapons, with plans to sign a cooperation memorandum at the July NATO Summit.
