Several Wells Fargo employees were dismissed last month for falsifying productivity by simulating keyboard activity, as reported by Bloomberg and the Financial Times. The affected employees were part of the bank's wealth and investment management unit and were fired after allegations of creating false impressions of active work. Mouse jigglers, devices that prevent computers from sleeping by mimicking user activity, have become popular particularly during remote work caused by the pandemic. Banks like Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase have implemented strict monitoring measures, such as tracking badge swipes, to oversee employee activities.
