Wells Fargo's banker Chenyue Mao, recently barred from leaving China due to a criminal case, has returned to the U.S. after negotiations between officials. The bank, with a limited presence in China compared to its competitors, has been operating in the region since 1997 but has not set up a locally incorporated foreign bank.
