WestJet Airlines in Canada is working to resume operations as the union representing its maintenance engineers has withdrawn the strike notice. The airline, backed by Onex Corp, has been dealing with demands for better working conditions and higher salaries. A total of 40 flights were canceled over June 18-19, affecting 6,500 passengers. Both parties have agreed to return to the bargaining table, with the Canadian Industrial Relations Board requiring more time to make a decision. The strike notice for Thursday was rescinded by the union in order to find a resolution and avoid further disruptions.
