Mechanics at WestJet, a Canadian airline, have decided not to proceed with a strike as the airline has agreed to resume negotiations for a new collective-bargaining agreement. The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, representing about 680 WestJet mechanics, had planned a strike but withdrew the notice as WestJet returned to the bargaining table. This decision followed a series of flight cancellations by the airline to prevent disruptions caused by the potential strike.
