In recent years, Taiwan has been discussing different perspectives on sex education. The Taiwan Sex Education Association and the National Education Action League conducted a parental survey on the need for localized sex education in Taiwan, aiming to create a more culturally suitable school curriculum for parents regarding age-appropriate sex education. The survey focused on UNESCO's eight core concepts of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), with 49 questions covering topics like values, rights, culture, sexuality, sexual behavior, and reproductive health. Results indicated that parents generally support comprehensive sex education and suggest implementing it mainly during junior high school years, emphasizing issues like self-protection, puberty development, gender roles, and discrimination prevention.
