Wheeler Trucking, a Michigan-based automotive hauling company, has agreed to pay $65,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after an employee, who practices Torah-observant Christianity, reported religious discrimination. The employee, Charles R. Lynch III, was subjected to racial slurs and offensive names, as well as mockery of his religious beliefs and Sabbath observance. Wheeler must pay back wages, emotional distress compensation, and conduct discrimination training as part of the settlement.
