A White House official has called for Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook to take leave until allegations of mortgage fraud are settled, following President Trump's attempt to remove her from the Fed's Board of Governors. National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett stated that if he were in Cook's position, he would step aside amid the serious accusations. Cook has declared her intention to contest her removal legally and insists she will not resign, arguing that Trump's actions lack a lawful basis.
