Why Did Hsieh Kuo-liang Become the Target of Recall? KMT Legislator Analyzes: Seeking to Trigger a 'Domino Effect' to Spark Next Year's Wave of Recalls

Reported about 1 year ago

FTNN news website reported that grassroots organization 'Mountain Sea Citizen Demolition Action' initiated a recall of Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang, aiming to submit about 40,000 petition forms to the Keelung City Election Commission on July 5. The second phase of petitioning requires a minimum of 37,920 valid petition forms to pass the threshold, and the Demolition Action group is confident in surpassing this with nearly 10,000 petitions received exceeding the threshold. KMT legislator Lai Shyr-bao supported Hsieh Kuo-liang and analyzed that the recall might be part of the DPP’s plan to initiate a 'mass recall wave' with Hsieh's recall as the first move, hoping to trigger a domino effect leading to a wave of recalls next February. Lai pointed out that the recall was initiated despite Hsieh's successful efforts in resolving property disputes, raising concerns about political motivations behind the recall.
