Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te announced his decision to apply for a constitutional interpretation and interim injunction regarding the parliamentary reform bill, sparking media questioning as to why he opted for a constitutional interpretation instead of initially using the constitutional inter-institutional mediation power granted to the President; Lai explained that as he had already submitted the constitutional interpretation, it was inappropriate for him to further use the inter-institutional mediation power. Lai emphasized his commitment to uphold the spirit of 'safeguarding constitutional governance and protecting the people' in pursuing the constitutional interpretation. He mentioned that if future disputes arise among the five branches, he will utilize the President's inter-institutional mediation power to resolve the issues if necessary.
