Julian Paul Assange, the founder of the infamous whistleblower website WikiLeaks, has reportedly reached a plea deal with the US Department of Justice to avoid being extradited to the US in exchange for admitting guilt. Assange, known for exposing various governments' scandals, has been detained in London since 2019. WikiLeaks, established in 2006, has published sensitive documents including military records from Afghanistan and Iraq wars, leading to accusations of espionage and computer misuse by the US. Assange, who has been in custody for 62 months, is awaiting sentencing in the US as per the reported agreement. It is speculated that Assange may have left London and returned to Australia, possibly due to Australian government lobbying efforts to spare him.
