The second stage of the recall campaign against Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang, initiated by the citizen group 'Mountain Sea Civilian Demolition Action,' has reached the required threshold for signatures, with the Kuomintang mobilizing support for Hsieh. Former legislator Kuo Zheng-liang advised Hsieh to follow the examples of former legislators Lin Chang-zuo and current People First Party caucus convenor Huang Kuo-chang, to refrain from confronting opponents head-on, citing past successful recall cases where a combative stance backfired. Kuo emphasized the importance of engaging in activities that benefit citizens and focusing on administrative work rather than escalating disputes. Hsieh, who has been preparing for a potential recall, received support from the Democratic Progressive Party, yet Kuo suggested a more cautious approach echoing the experiences of Lin and Huang during their recall situations.
