According to reports on July 3, 2024, there is speculation that Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen may run for the upcoming KMT chair election. However, KMT Cultural and Communication Committee Chairperson Lee Yan-xiu stated after a meeting that the party has not discussed next year's chair election internally. Currently, the focus is on governance at all levels and supporting legislative efforts, with no current discussions on the chair election. Several grassroots meetings are planned, but the chair election is not on the agenda.
