Toronto has been officially awarded an expansion team in the WNBA, set to begin playing in 2026. The team, owned by Larry Tanenbaum’s Kilmer Sports Ventures, will play at the 8,700-seat Coca-Cola Coliseum and also have select games in Montreal and Vancouver. This marks the league's 14th team and the first non-U.S. team in the WNBA. The expansion fee for the Toronto franchise is $50 million, the same amount paid by the Golden State Warriors' ownership group for the Valkyries team.
