At a Wellcome supermarket in Taipei's Zhongzheng District, surveillance footage revealed a woman surnamed Liu stealing beef ribs from the fresh food section on five different occasions since mid-May. Liu pretended to shop, placed the beef ribs in her personal bag out of sight of the camera, and left without paying. The store suffered a loss of around 3,000 NTD. Liu, a 71-year-old retiree, was eventually caught by store staff and the police, and has been charged with theft. Authorities advise businesses to take preventive measures like installing security cameras, and remind the public to pay honestly while shopping to avoid legal consequences.
