On July 4, 2024, in Taipei, a woman surnamed Liu was caught stealing a bus for the first time in the city. She stole a bus twice in just 5 days, claiming it was to go back home to get something. When fleeing, she developed cellulitis in her legs and had to be hospitalized. Liu was caught by the police in Taichung and admitted to stealing the buses to return home. She has been charged with theft and placed under house arrest. Liu had previously stolen a truck in another incident and was caught by the owner. Despite being caught twice in a short span, she continued her theft attempts, resulting in her confinement to her residence shortly after.
