Drug Trafficker Entrusts 200,000 to Female Friend for Prison Visit, Waits in Vain for 2 Years

Reported about 1 year ago

A woman surnamed Yeh from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, was caught by police for selling second-class drugs and entrusted her 200,000 NT bank card to a friend surnamed Chiu before entering prison, asking her to buy daily necessities or bring food for prison visits. However, Chiu disappeared after a few visits, leaving Yeh waiting for two years without any contact. Yeh suspected her friend had taken the money and filed a lawsuit against Chiu. Eventually, Chiu confessed to withdrawing the 200,000 NT from Yeh's account, reached a settlement of monthly compensation, and was sentenced to 3 months in prison for embezzlement with probation and a fine, subject to appeal.
