A 43-year-old woman surnamed Wang in Taoyuan City recently saw an advertisement for virtual currency investment on Facebook claiming 'guaranteed profits' and joined a fraud group's LINE contact. Pretending to be an investment platform agent, they convinced Wang to set another bank account as a designated account for future transactions and profits. When Wang went to the post office to set up the account, a clerk noticed something was amiss and alerted the Yangmei Police Substation. Upon investigation, the police informed Wang that this was a common tactic used by scam groups and successfully protected her savings. The police urge the public to invest through legal channels and remain vigilant against high-profit, risk-free claims, recommending contacting the anti-fraud hotline or reporting to seek assistance if in doubt.
