A Taiwanese woman, Ms. Li, felt humiliated when she was instructed to strip naked and undergo an inspection by two female customs officers upon arrival in Palau for a diving trip with friends, despite not having any prohibited items. The incident left her in tears, prompting her to vow that this trip to Palau would be her first and last. The customs search was authorized, but the invasive nature of the inspection, including demands to check private areas, was deemed excessive. The Taiwan Foreign Ministry expressed concern immediately, explaining it was not discriminatory treatment. The woman spent over NT$70,000 for the trip and was left feeling unfairly treated, with the situation reportedly triggered by a previous incident involving a Chinese woman attempting to breach customs.
