Woman Found Not Guilty for Spraying Red Paint on Temple's Signboard Due to Land Dispute in Mountainous Area

Reported about 1 year ago

According to SET News, on July 7, 2024, a woman in New Taipei City's Xizhi mountainous area was acquitted for spraying red paint on a temple's signboard after being accused of the temple's encroachment on the mountainside. Although she was cleared of charges, she insisted the temple had encroached on the land, while the temple claimed the development was on private property and thus not illegal. The woman, a local resident, expressed her discontent with the temple's land development activities and cleaned up the signboard herself, leading to her acquittal. The dispute stemmed from concerns over improper land use and potential risks of landslides during heavy rainfall.
