Recently, a woman in her 60s from central Taiwan, who had been tracking high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and kidney disease at an outpatient clinic, ate a banana every day to aid in bowel movements but unexpectedly developed hyperkalemia, leading to irregular heartbeats and coma, requiring emergency medical care. After urgent kidney dialysis to lower her potassium levels, her life was saved. Doctors advise patients with kidney issues to be careful with banana consumption to avoid risking their lives, as bananas are a high-potassium fruit.
