Woman in Pingtung Prosecuted for Inciting Friend to Retaliate Against Ex-boyfriend by Pouring Gasoline and Setting Fire, Charged with Public Endangerment Crime

Reported 10 months ago

In a recent case revealed by Pingtung County police, a 34-year-old woman surnamed Lin, out of resentment towards her ex-boyfriend surnamed Huang after their breakup, allegedly incited two female friends to carry out a retaliatory attack with fire, resulting in a failed attempt and Lin's subsequent arrest. Lin was found preparing gasoline and orchestrating the plan near Huang's residence. Despite multiple attempts to pour gasoline, they were stopped by Huang's timely return and by Huang himself when they tried to target his brother's car with gasoline in a parking lot. Lin denied intent to set fire, but evidence of her coercion was discovered in conversations with friends. Lin has been formally charged with violating protective orders and public endangerment, with authorities warning against irrational and illegal actions in handling emotional disputes to avoid irreparable consequences.
