On June 24, 2024, in Taipei's Wanhua District, a woman was tragically killed in a traffic accident. She was hit by a cement truck making a right turn while crossing the street, resulting in severe injuries to her legs and hands. Due to the weight of the truck, emergency responders had to remove the concrete on the vehicle before being able to rescue her. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries at 11:30 a.m. The driver of the cement truck, with a blood alcohol level of 0.11 milligrams, will face charges for public endangerment and manslaughter. This incident serves as a grim reminder of road safety.
