An ear, nose, and throat doctor, Dr. Wu Zhaokuan, shared a case where a 50-year-old woman who constantly scratched her itchy ear ended up being diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma due to inflammation caused by frequent ear cleaning. Initially using cotton swabs for cleaning, the woman eventually experienced ear congestion, ringing in the ears, and decreased hearing. Dr. Wu emphasized that although it's rare for ears to develop cancer, improper cleaning or mechanical damage can disrupt cell repair processes and potentially lead to cancer. He advised caution in selecting ear cleaning tools to prevent ear injuries.
