Woman Shocked to Find Mango Covered in 'Black Hairs', Department of Agriculture Reassures Public: Don't Worry!

Reported about 1 year ago

A woman recently purchased a mango and was shocked to discover 'black hairs' covering the fruit after peeling it, making her too scared to eat it. The Department of Agriculture responded, reassuring the public not to worry. The 'brown fibers' seen on the mango are explained as a result of 'fibrous cellulose browning' within the fruit, which does not affect its safety for consumption. People can simply scrape off the brown fibers on the surface and still consume the mango normally.
