The World Bank has slightly raised its 2024 global growth outlook due to the stronger-than-expected performance of the U.S. economy, but warned that overall output would remain well below pre-pandemic levels until 2026. The report forecasts a soft landing for the global economy with growth stabilizing at 2.6% in 2024, driven by U.S. demand. However, global growth is expected to remain at 2.7% in 2025 and 2026, significantly lower than the 3.1% average before COVID-19, with persistently high interest rates limiting growth and adding debt pressure to emerging markets.
