The World Bank Group has launched a new loan and investment guarantee platform to triple guarantees and risk insurance to $20 billion annually by 2030. The initiative combines units from the World Bank, IFC, and MIGA, aiming to boost investments in risky regions like Africa and Ukraine. MIGA will innovate with new financing like carbon credits and off-grid energy solutions, while also attracting private sector investors. The project led by President Ajay Banga aims to streamline guarantee products and increase private capital in developing countries.
