Mugur Isarescu, the world’s longest-serving central bank governor in Romania, is set to receive a new five-year term, pending confirmation by lawmakers by the end of June. Isarescu, who took office in 1990, has the support of major parties for the extension. The decision on his candidacy will be made after the June elections, with discussions also involving the potential appointment of new members to the bank's board.
