WSJ Poll: Trump's Support Rating Reaches 48% All-Time High

Reported about 1 year ago

Following the TV debate on July 5, 2024, the gap in the popularity ratings between the current US president, Biden, and former President Trump has widened. The latest poll by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) shows Trump leading by six percentage points with a support rating of 48%, setting a new high for the two major party candidates this year. The survey also reveals that 80% of voters believe Biden is too old to run for re-election. After a disappointing performance in the June 27 debate, Biden's support has continued to decline, causing divisions within the Democratic Party on whether he should continue running. Post-debate polls indicate a rise in Trump's popularity. Among other statistics, if Biden and Trump were to face each other, Trump leads with 48% support compared to Biden's 42%, marking the largest gap since the start of election polling at the end of 2021.
