During a Legislative Yuan Internal Affairs Committee meeting on Thursday, a version proposed by DPP Legislator Wu Bing-rui regarding the 'Recall of Public Officials Election Act' was unexpectedly included in the agenda. The version required recall petitions to include the 'issue date' of the ID card, with a penalty of up to 5 years in prison for those falsifying signatures. Wu Bing-rui stated his decision to withdraw the proposal, refusing to be used as a political tool by the KMT. However, according to the Legislative Yuan's exercise of authority law, withdrawing a bill requires approval from the plenary session, thus the committee can still review Wu Bing-rui's version on Thursday.
