President Lai Ching-te officially signed the parliamentary powers amendment, raising concerns among foreign businesses that trade secrets could be leaked during parliamentary hearings. Taiwan legislator Wu Pei-yi accused legislator Hung Meng-kai of requesting internal information from TSMC during a parliamentary inquiry, with Hung denying and threatening legal action. Wu used a house report to show that Hung was specifically interested in TSMC's equipment recovery rate and criticized Hung for seeking sensitive industry information despite National Science Council's classification. Wu emphasized the need to oppose the expanded powers bill that could legitimize such actions.
