During a review of legislation related to parliamentary powers proposed by the Executive Yuan, DPP legislator Wu Siyao pointed out that some of the parliamentary reform proposals made by the DPP when they were the majority party had raised constitutional concerns and lacked social consensus, prompting a reevaluation. Wu highlighted past DPP achievements in parliamentary reform since 2016, including live broadcasts of inter-party negotiations and allowing citizens to attend legislature as observers upon application. President of Taiwan and DPP Chairman Lai Ching-te also emphasized the party's commitment to creating a people-oriented, open, and professional parliament since returning to power in 2016, but lamented that the current parliamentary reform bill has been blocked by the opposition, preventing any discussion or progress.
