Yangmei Police Ensures Migrant Worker Safety with Bilingual Education to Combat Scams

Reported 12 months ago

In recent years, there has been a rise in fraud cases with increasingly sophisticated methods, leaving the public vulnerable. Due to language barriers and unfamiliarity with laws, foreign migrant workers are susceptible to falling into scam traps, becoming money mules or dummy accounts and resulting in victims losing their money with no recourse. The Yangmei Police Substation in Taoyuan visited Wan Chou Chemical Co., Ltd. to educate and raise crime prevention awareness among migrant workers. The bilingual education aimed to prevent miscommunication and received positive feedback. The police emphasized the prevalence of fraud crimes and cautioned against sharing personal accounts or financial information, urging individuals to contact the anti-scam hotline 165 for inquiries or verify with police units. The initiative aims to protect the safety of migrant workers and prevent them from becoming victims of fraud.
