On June 11, 2024, a system malfunction occurred in YouBike this morning, causing all YouBike 2.0 and YouBike 2.0E electric-assist bicycles across Taiwan to be unable to rent, return, and deduct fees. Taipei City's Department of Transportation, initially imposing a fine of 10,000 NTD, decided to increase the penalty to at least 100,000 NTD due to the significant public interest damage caused by the incident. They visited the company involved to investigate the system failure and requested a comprehensive report and improvement strategy to enhance system stability and review the update mechanism.
