YouBike2.0E is Coming! New Taipei Will Launch at the End of September

Reported about 1 year ago

YouBike2.0E is expected to be introduced in New Taipei as early as September, with a few bikes from Taoyuan already reaching New Taipei. The procurement process is expected to be completed this month earlier than planned. New Taipei aims to have 2,100 YouBike2.0E bikes on the road by the end of the third quarter, with an initial launch targeted for September or early October, hoping to synchronize with Taipei City. The new electric-assisted YouBike2.0E with a speed of up to 25 km/h is suitable for commuting between counties or leisure activities. There are concerns over differing regulations between New Taipei, Taipei, and Taoyuan regarding bike lanes and speed limits, with discussions ongoing to address potential violations. Pricing is also expected to align with other cities, following the previous charging model but without Tpass transfer discounts. The new YouBike2.0E procurement will account for about 10% of the existing 2.0 fleet, as the remaining 1.0 bikes will be phased out by the end of October, with all stations switching to the new model.
