Online dating apps, once seen as modern-day matchmakers, are losing popularity among young people. Recent years have shown a decline in app usage, with more individuals opting to meet potential partners through real-life activities. This shift is reflected in the plummeting stock prices of companies like Match Group, which owns Tinder and Hinge, as well as Bumble. A survey by Bumble revealed that 70% of female users are tired of using dating apps. The trend of seeking alternatives to app dating is growing, with events like speed dating, social nights, gym meetups, dance classes, and coworking spaces becoming more popular. This change in dating patterns among singles is a global trend, evident in statistics showing over 50% of individuals aged 20-44 in Taiwan are unmarried as of 2023.
