Lee Chia-yen June 25, 2024, at 12:13 AM, Taiwan's representative to the US, Yu Da-jung, was accused of misusing public funds by allegedly spending NT$8 million on luxury items for the official residence, including expensive furniture, a Cadillac car which was blocked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bluetooth speakers, coffee machines, and carpets. The Ministry confirmed that they did not approve the car purchase but stated that the procurement of household items for the residence followed proper procedures. The controversy arose as it was claimed that these purchases were made under the guise of official necessities. The Ministry emphasized that Yu Da-jung's procurement activities complied with government regulations and procedures.
