On June 28, 2024, the Taoyuan District Court in Taiwan sentenced the operators of Yuan Shan Egg Company for conspiracy to defraud into obtaining financial gains by selling unwholesome liquid eggs for over five years through 46 outlets. The individuals, including a father, mother, and son, were sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison and a total of 57.65 million New Taiwan Dollars in illegal gains were seized. The court found that the company had been producing liquid eggs from substandard eggs, some of which were moldy or infested, for an extended period, with no evidence of resulting health risks recognized under the food safety laws.
