Yunlin County Council Chairman Arrested for Allegedly Taking Millions in Bribes to Assist Green Energy Company Obtain Electricity License

Yahoo News reported that Huang Kai, the independent chairman of Yunlin County Council, was arrested for allegedly setting up a dummy company and receiving over millions of New Taiwan Dollars in bribes from the green energy company, Guojin Energy, to help the company obtain an electricity operating license in 2020. Following searches and questioning, Huang Kai was detained and prohibited from meeting others. Investigations revealed a corruption scandal involving collusion between green energy companies and public representatives, with Huang Kai allegedly misusing his position to facilitate the issuance of electricity licenses. The authorities confiscated cash, luxury cars, watches, and designer bags as part of the probe.
